RAYMOND BAPTIST CHURCH NOTES

Month of November: “Thanks for the Grace” ~ There are many reasons we have to  give thanks. People, life, but rarely do we think about giving thanks for grace. In this season of Thanksgiving, can we take the time to focus on the grace that God provides for us each day.

GUEST SPEAKER THIS SUNDAY 11/17/19:  Dane Fowlkes serves as Senior Regional Director of Church Partnerships for Samaritan’s Purse and directs the national Church Partnerships team. He is currently in his fifth year with Samaritan’s Purse, having served previously for many years as a missions professor and missionary to East Africa and India. He holds the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Missiology from The University of the Free State in South Africa. He is married to Jo Beth Fowlkes. Dane also has written a book titled Ordinary Glory: Finding Grace in the Commonplace”: a book of reflections on the extraordinary potential of an ordinary life. “Ordinary Glory: Finding Grace in the Commonplace” Published author Dane Fowlkes, has led anything but a dull existence—from initiation into an African tribe in northern Kenya where he is known as Jilo, a name that means “a season of celebration,” to living near Gandhi’s ashram on the Sabarmati River in Gujarat, India. Dane served as pastor of several churches before being appointed for missionary service in Kenya. He worked with an unreached tribe in northern Kenya and equipped existing churches around Mount Kenya to establish new ones, later becoming dean of Kenya Baptist Theological College and leading a national program of theological education for pastors. After two terms of service in Kenya, he moved to India, before returning to the United States.

This will be a very special and informative Sunday so we look forward to seeing everyone this Sunday to meet and greet Dana with our Raymond Baptist Church warm welcome.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOXES:  Now is a good time to pick up some supplies for your Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.   With the low prices for back to school on crayons, note books, pens, whatever you want to include.  If you want to pick up extra, that is wonderful.  As we do a packing party to fill shoeboxes with goods purchased during the year.  We love any donations to help fill boxes.  Also, be checking out the Mark downs for great deals.  We have found silly toys marked as low as .10 cents that can go into a shoebox.  These shoeboxes are a way to show God’s love to a child that feels lost and alone.  Not only does the child get a shoebox, but they get love and hope.  This shoebox is the opportunity for others to let the children know about Jesus.  Many of these children in turn teach their families about Jesus.  Many accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  What an impact you can make on lives with a simple shoebox. Michelle has included a link to Samaritans purse for helpful tips, stories, and further in depth information about OCC. (Operation Christmas Child 2018 Special Report https://sampur.se/2Gb4UXV.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact Michelle Osterhuber.  Michelle also store the extra goods for the shoeboxes until we pack them in November.
