ADVENT SERMON SERIES  New teaching series for the Advent Season- “This Christmas. Life’s Big Questions Answered.

There are four big questions everyone has to face sooner or later. “Where did I come from?” “Why Am I Here? “How Should I Live?” “Where Am I Going?” This Advent season we will be looking at scriptures from the prophet Isaiah, and the Gospels to see how Christmas holds the answers to life’s biggest questions for all of us.

Fourth Sunday of Advent – December 23rd  – Scripture:  Isaiah 11:1-9; Matthew 1:18-25

Today is the fourth Sunday of Advent, Christmas Sunday.

Advent means “coming or appearing.” Each year at this time we remember , reflect and celebrate the coming of Jesus into this world. We also need to remember that even though Jesus has come once, scripture reminds us he is coming again. The first time as savior and Lord, the next time as risen conquering king.

At Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Messiah. The traditional Christmas scene is filled with images that contain shepherds, sheep, quiet nights and visitors. At Jesus’ second coming, the scene will be different. No shepherds or sheep, but Jesus Christ the King reigning in his kingdom with his people forever. May we make sure that we take time this advent, to prepare us to be welcomed into the kingdom when Jesus returns.

CELEBRATING GOD’S FAITHFULNESS: The Leadership Team has set aside the month of December as a time to allow those who are interested in making an extra contribution over and above their weekly tithes and offerings. Each year the Elders ask us to focus on an end of the year gift that we could give to help others around us. Everyone has seen the devastation caused by the fires in California, the thousands displaced and homeless. This year for the month of December we would like to ask you to consider giving an extra gift that will go to Samaritan’s Purse. Samaritan’s Purse is a relief agency led by Franklin Graham and provides disaster assistance to those in need around the world. Samaritan’s Purse currently has 96 volunteers on the ground in the affected areas of California. Please note on your contribution End of Year Giving “Samaritan’s Purse.” Thank you.
