From Rick and Ruth Odess ~ Newsletter

Hi everyone, this August, Ruth and I are planning a “create your own” mission trip to El Salvador and serve with Pastor Nelson Juarez. Usually we have a particular project in mind and recruit a team to go and serve that project. This year however, with all of the uncertainty Covid has imposed upon us with travel, we are doing something very unusual and reversing that process. We are looking for people before we have a particular project picked out. Ruth and I spent the entire month of January last year traveling the country with Pastor Nelson and his wife Consuelo, and were able to uncover a number of worthwhile projects that could use our attention. These opportunities include medical, church and home building, Vacation Bible School, and more. Our goal is to recruit as many folks as possible to come and join us in August, and the project will be determined based upon the interests, capabilities and gifts of those choosing to join us. So… if your interests lie in building projects, children, feeding projects, or a vision trip where you will learn more about your Central American brothers and sisters, their culture and their needs, then take that information and vision back to your home church, please come and join us this August in El Salvador. If that timing doesn’t quite work for you for, we are also planning on a building trip to Honduras and Pastor Victor Almendarez in July and are certainly open to other locales and times to make it work best for you. Ruth and I are praying for you to hear God ‘s voice. God bless. Here is a short video announcement about our plans.

STEPHEN MINISTRY ~ STEPHEN MINISTRY ~ WHAT DOES THE LOGO OF STEPHEN MINISTRY MEAN? The logo consists of a cross and circle, together with a broken person and a whole person. The broken person stands behind the cross, symbolizing the brokenness in our lives as a result of our sin. The whole person stands in front of the cross because it is through the cross of Jesus that we are made whole. The circle symbolizes both the wholeness we receive through Christ and God’s unending love for us. If anyone has any questions or you would like more information on this upcoming ministry, please contact Paula Chouinard at mpchouinard@comcast.net or Donna Burgess at edndonnaburgess@comcast.net

RAYMOND BAPTIST CHURCH NOTES

This is my command: Love each other (John 15:17).

God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and to continue to help them (Hebrews 6:10).

Feeling a little isolated, unconnected? We have all been through a lot these past months. We have all felt some relationships slipping away. I want to give us an opportunity to begin the process of reconnecting.

Starting on Wednesday, February 24th from 12:00- 12:30pm I want to invite you to join me on a zoom call for a short time of reflection from scripture, and then an opportunity to just talk with each other. We can talk about getting your garden ready, talk about all the projects you have been doing around the house, talk about a spiritual question you may have, we can just talk with each other and pray.

The only two rules; no conversation about politics, no conversation about COVID ~ life is more than these two things that have been defining people for too long.

So, watch your emails for the ZOOM link each week and join me. Bring your lunch for a time to begin to reconnect with each other.  Thanks. Pastor Kevin

The Children’s Ministry provided 12 school backpacks to the Sunview Fire Victims, from pre-school through College. The backpacks included everything needed to replenish their school bags, including hand sanitizer, and toiletries.  We also have available for all age groups (pre-school thru College) available if more are needed at a later time.  If anyone is aware of a need of a back pack, please contact the office.  A huge thank you to everyone who participated and to Tara Swist for coordinating, shopping, filling and delivering the schools bags to the Town for distribution.

We have collected approximately $10,866.00 (and it is still rising) for the Covid-19 Relief Fund and we have helped with Covid-19 assistance in the amount of $5,207.00 to families affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic thus far.  This includes help with rent, mortgage and testing costs for people who do not have insurance but needs to get back to work with a negative test! Thank you!!!!!

THIS WEEK: 02/14/2021: ~ “Loved to Action” ~ (John 14:15-31)

NEXT WEEK: “Stuck by Love” (John 15:1-17)

For those who asked, here is a list of differences Pastor Kevin found comparing “volunteering” to “serving”. See what you think…

  • Volunteering comes from my hands, serving comes from my heart
  • Volunteering is on my terms, serving on God’s terms
  • Volunteers keep score, servants make sacrifices
  • Volunteers are time sensitive, servants are need sensitive
  • Volunteers wonder how they look to others; servants wonder how God looks through them to others
  • Volunteering focuses on my convenience, serving focuses on my commitment
  • Volunteering makes you feel superior, serving makes you humble

DUE IN THIS WEEK! SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE: This is Sanctity of Human Life week. RAYMOND BAPTIST CHURCH NOTES

“I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me: (John 17:23).

Paul and Clare Hudson retired in December ~ Join the Missions Team in sending congratulations on February 25, 2021 at 6:30pm via Zoom Contact Mike Chouinard at chouinardmike55@gmail.com for Zoom invitation

If you have been in contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19, are planning to travel or planning larger gatherings with people outside your immediate household, please consider if you should return to live Sunday worship service or wait. This would be an act of kindness in potentially protecting people who will gather and reflect the current state guidelines. If anyone has any questions or you want more additional information on the State or RBC Guidelines, please do not hesitate to give the office a call.  Thank you.

THIS WEEK: 02/07/2021: ~ Communion Sunday ~ “Which Way Did He Go?” ~ (John 14:1-14)

NEXT WEEK: “Loved to Action” (John 14:15-31)

SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE: This is Sanctity of Human Life week. Our church is participating in the baby bottle benefit to help support Real Options, (formerly CareNet Pregnancy Center).
