RBC Weekly Newsletter (5/21/21)

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

Since young children are not able to be vaccinated yet and the CDC is still recommending that unvaccinated people need to wear masks indoors, after much prayer and discussion, we are going to keep our present protocol of wearing masks indoors. This will keep children safe through the end of the school year, prevent the need to only have some people masked, and keep people who are more at risk safer. This protocol will be re-evaluated when children are out of school towards the end of June. We feel this protocol is the fairest solution for all at present.

THIS WEEK: 05/23/2021: ~ Not in My House” – (1 Peter 3:1-7) What we don’t let in our front door, usually comes through the back

NEXT WEEK05/30/2021: ~ “Show Me Your Hands” – (1 Peter 3:8-16) Do we live with hands open, or clenched towards others?

PRAYER NIGHT: Please Join Us on the 1st Thursday of every month, starting June 3rd. 6:30pm – 7:30pm at Raymond Baptist Church: Outside – Weather Permitting or in Sanctuary

There will be a Church cookout and game day after Church on June 13th, from 11:30am to 1:00pm. If you have an outdoor game like corn hole, washer toss, ring toss, ladder ball, etc., and would be willing to bring it with you on the 13th please see or email Ed Burgess, edndonnaburgess@comcast.net. You can bring lawn chairs if you would like to. Please RSVP to the Church office so we can anticipate how many people will be attending. Everyone is encouraged to attend. We will work to make this a safe event. Please note that while we all love our wonderful potluck items here at RBC all food and drinks will be provided but no Potluck items  or sharing of utensils can happen at this time.

We are having a BUSINESS MEETING on Wednesday, May 26th at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.  All Members are urged to attend. All are welcome. We are continuing to monitor the CDC Guidelines but at this time all policies and practices we currently have in place will be for this meeting as well. We will keep everyone informed if any changes are made to these policies and procedures. Thank you all for your understanding. If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to give the office a call or email.

GRADUATES: We will be honoring those who will be graduating High School or College in 2021. RAYMOND BAPTIST CHURCH NOTES

We are rejoicing that Raymond Baptist Church is celebrating another anniversary!! 71 years on April 18th! It has been so encouraging to see our church grow over the years. Through all the ups and downs, God has been faithful. Special thanks to our congregation, ministries, members and communities for all that they do to help bring Jesus, encouragement and help into the lives of many.

As we have all seen in the news, the state is dropping its mandatory mask mandate as of today, but still keeping it as a recommendation for best policy. As this pandemic has progressed, changes have been expected in recommendations, and the leadership has been careful in examining those changes and recommendations from the CDC and the state. As we progress through time we will continue to be alert to changes, and the upcoming recommendations on May 7th from the “Safer at Home” guidance. If you would like offer any helpful input for the Board, please feel free to drop a note to the church office.

The Board of Elders welcome all comments and questions regarding the workings, policies, goals, moving forward, etc. of the Church and would love to have a discussion with you.  If you would like to contact any of the Elders the following are the email addresses for all. They look forward to answering any and all questions, praying with and for you and having a discussion. Please contact them, they would love to hear from you.

YOUTH GROUP

Youth Group is now in the Ministry Center. Students will be required to wear masks at all times while at Youth Group. Hand sanitizer will also be available at all times. The building will also be fogged every week to kill any possible germs left behind, and protect from Covid.

Sunday, March 28th:

3:30pm – 5:00pm

Meeting held at Ministry Center

I am very excited about this week’s lesson as we study, Jesus’ Power Over… We will look at Jesus’ power over nature, evil (Satan, demons), and even death.

Every week during Youth Group we have started, “Bible Trivia.”  We have started using this as a tool to help the students know where books of the Bible are located. We make it fun, and there are prizes included.

No Youth Group Easter Sunday (April 4th)

After Easter we will be studying Paul’s letter to the churches. Our goal is to learn how God calls us to live as follower of His.

Important information: If we have to cancel an in person Youth Group even for a week or an extended amount of time, we will have a google meets meeting instead.

Junior High and Senior High: 3:30pm

This would give time to share our week with each other and share in a lesson as well.

Matt will email or text out a google meets invitation for all students to be able to join.

From Rick and Ruth Odess ~ Newsletter

Hi everyone, this August, Ruth and I are planning a “create your own” mission trip to El Salvador and serve with Pastor Nelson Juarez. Usually we have a particular project in mind and recruit a team to go and serve that project. This year however, with all of the uncertainty Covid has imposed upon us with travel, we are doing something very unusual and reversing that process. We are looking for people before we have a particular project picked out. Ruth and I spent the entire month of January last year traveling the country with Pastor Nelson and his wife Consuelo, and were able to uncover a number of worthwhile projects that could use our attention. These opportunities include medical, church and home building, Vacation Bible School, and more. Our goal is to recruit as many folks as possible to come and join us in August, and the project will be determined based upon the interests, capabilities and gifts of those choosing to join us. So… if your interests lie in building projects, children, feeding projects, or a vision trip where you will learn more about your Central American brothers and sisters, their culture and their needs, then take that information and vision back to your home church, please come and join us this August in El Salvador. If that timing doesn’t quite work for you for, we are also planning on a building trip to Honduras and Pastor Victor Almendarez in July and are certainly open to other locales and times to make it work best for you. Ruth and I are praying for you to hear God ‘s voice. God bless. Here is a short video announcement about our plans.
