The Bread I Need (Sermon 2/11/18)
We constantly try to fill our lives with what we think are “the right things that are healthy,” but how often do we miss the mark?

I Am the Judge (Sermon 2/5/18)

There have been many TV shows where people willingly come in and present their case before a judge and agree to accept his/her verdict. Sometimes the testimonies are very entertaining- many times very sad. Would we be willing to place the fate of our lives in the hands of a judge in full view of everyone?

    Jesus – the (Un)Expected One (Sermon 1/28/18)
Do you expect Jesus to show up in your life? What can you expect him to do?

Jesus – the Restorer (Sermon 1/21/18)
One of the iconic pictures of Cuba is the old classic American cars traveling along the streets. They look great, and collectors drool over their condition. However when seen up close, they are held together by spare parts that do not match the original car, duct tape and different engines. In reality, the restorations done have diminished their value. What kind of restorations have we tried to do with our lives and how have they helped, or hurt us?

Jesus – The Disturber of the Peace (Sermon 1/14/18)
For many, their image of Jesus is one they carry with them from early in Sunday School. The man with the kind face, walking through bucolic fields with fans waving as he goes by. Yet the image given to us in Scripture is much more complex.

Jesus – the Word (Sermon 1/7/18)

There is a great deal of opinion on “Who is Jesus?,” even among those who attend church. At Christmas, we celebrated the coming of Jesus into the world, but where do we take the story from there? How much has our attitude and belief of Christ been influenced by culture and opinions rather than Scripture itself?

Are We There Yet? (Sermon 12/24/17)

Everyone has been on the car trip when you felt that it would go on forever. At some point someone will say, “Are we there yet?” The Christmas season can begin to feel that way. The preparations, the planning can exhaust you. But in the final push towards Christmas, God wants to give you a last word of encouragement.

    I Am Lost (Sermon 12/17/17)

It seems you cannot have a Christmas program without sheep and shepherds. They seem to be a mainstay of the Nativity decorations. Shepherds seem to be those characters who get lost in the background. If you lose a shepherd in your nativity display, it does not draw the same sense of loss as if you lost a king or angel. Shepherds are invaluable.

Is This My Turn? (Sermon 12/10/17)

Yogi Berra was known for his sometimes-verbal gymnastics. His most famous one was, “When you see a fork in the road, take it.” There are times in our spiritual life when we are faced with the decision of which way to go. Can we know which road is correct?

    Look for Signposts (Sermon 12/3/17)

Sign posts, navigation points, “turn by turn” instructions help us know if we are heading in the right direction. Do we pay attention to them, or forge our own way forward?
