Current Sermon Series: “Overcoming Life’s Dramas”

Shakespeare wrote, “All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players.” We each live in, and participate in the drama of life. We all walk through different acts, different scenes with a changing cast of characters. This fall, with God as our director, we will explore the drama play of our lives.

The Drama of Relationships (Sermon 10/13/19)
Relationships are a part of all of our lives. They can fulfill us, or frustrate us, sometimes at the same time. What can we realistically do to eliminate the drama that can come from relationships in our lives- and the drama we bring to others.

What More Do You Need? (Sermon 10/6/19)
Our perspective determines our responses, or how our responses give away our perspective, whichever comes first. To understand what God is doing in our lives, we must first understand what God is after. In most of what God is doing, He is trying to teach us a lesson of faith.

The Drama of Anxiety (Sermon 9/29/19)
All of us at one time will find ourselves struck with anxiety. Anxiety over our kids, finances, future, world. We can let that anxiety define us and cripple us, or we can choose a different way. Peter gives some straightforward advice in how to not allow our anxiety to destroy our lives.

The Drama of Image (Sermon 9/22/19)
For many image is everything. How others see me, how I see myself can determine the course of my life. The drama ends when I can rest in the image of how God sees me, and live in that reality.

The Drama of Performance (Sermon 9/15/19)
We all have faced the anxiety and pressure of performing- of living up to other’s expectations, and our own. What happens when we fail those expectations? How do we respond when the pressure to perform overwhelms us? From where do I obtain my sense of worth and value?

The Drama of Conflict (Sermon 9/8/19)
“Choose your battles” is a widely given piece of advice. Many times there is great wisdom in that idea. But what happens when you can’t choose? What happens when a battle, a conflict is thrust upon you? Do we choose to fight, or run when we find ourselves in a conflict not of our making, or choosing? In this message, we will hear God’s advice from the life of King Jehoshaphat and how to respond when we are suddenly overwhelmed by the events of life.”

Sermon Series: “To Boldly Go… Where?”

This summer, we remember the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing. Over 50 years ago President Kennedy committed the reputation and the resources of our nation to achieve the perceived impossible- to walk on the moon and in doing so, plant a flag for all to see.

In 2 Kings, God takes a new generation of spiritual leader, Elisha, to do the same for Israel. Elisha commits his resources and reputation to lead his nation forward to plant a flag of God’s reality for all to see. Are we ready to do the same?

God wants to extend His kingdom. His plan and purpose will not be thwarted; He will do it with or without us. Failure for God is not an option.

To Become a David, We Need a Jonathan (Sermon 7/28/19)
1 Samuel 18:1-4, ESV “As soon as he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. And Saul took him that day and would not let him return to his father’s house. Then Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him and gave it to David, and his armor, and even his sword and his bow and his belt.”

Fighting Back Against Doubt (Sermon 6/16/19)
Doubt can creep into anyone’s life at any time. Doubt can isolate you and cripple you. Doubt can make you feel like you are watching the world through a window and no one can see you. There are practical steps you can take to help each of us on the journey from doubt to belief again.

    God? (Sermon 6/09/19)
“The factual premise of religion, is untenable. God almost certainly does not exist.” (Richard Dawkins) “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.” (Apostle Paul)
    • Who is right and how can you know for sure?

The Doubt of Science (Sermon 6/2/19)
“Science without faith is lame. Faith without science is blind”- Einstein
“The God of the Bible is also the God of the genome. He can be worshiped in the cathedral or the laboratory”- Francis Collins
“Men became scientific because they expected law in nature and they expected law in nature because they believed in a legislator.” – C.S. Lewis

For many science and faith are polar opposites. One cannot exist in the presence of the other. When one is threatened, doubt can creep in. How do I view the relationship between faith and science?

The Doubt of Silence (Sermon 5/26/19)
You call, you text, you leave a note and you wait, and no answer comes. You try again, and you get frustrated. You try another method of communicating, and still get no answer. Now you begin to get frustrated and even angry. After a while, you may even stop trying to communicate and you walk away doubting, or rebelling. Have you ever experienced that with God?

The Doubt of Pain (Sermon 5/19/19)
Reading the headlines any day of our world or our lives could cause someone to doubt the existence, or the attention of God. How can we answer when answers seem so far away? Question- “Can you recall a time when you or a friend experienced suffering or pain? How did you respond?”

The Doubt of Scripture (Sermon 5/12/19)
Everyone has a final authority, a “The Buck Stops Here” foundation, for his or her life. For some it is his/her experiences. For others it is his/her own beliefs. Others will claim they have no authority and want none. As Christ followers we claim our final authority is the written testimony of Scripture. How confident are we in its reliability, and do we begin to doubt when its truth is challenged?

The Shockwave of Doubt (Sermon 5/5/19)
Most people struggle with doubt at some point in their lives. The doubt can be simple, or the doubt can be overwhelming. Barna poll of 2018 estimates that 70% of high schools students will have walked away from their faith by the time they graduate. When doubt challenges our faith, it can be devastating. As a Christ follower, is doubt ok? What causes my doubt? When doubt comes, do I allow my doubt to drive me from God, or towards him?
