RAYMOND BAPTIST CHURCH NOTES

WOMEN’S MINISTRY: The Women’s Ministry has a special guest speaker for the March Connections! Bethany Needham, founder of the Simply Beautiful conference and host of the podcast Hey Girl, will be coming to speak. It a privilege to have her come to RBC, so don’t miss out! Saturday, March 16th, 9-11 am, RBC Great Room

MINISTRY CLUSTER MEETING:  our next Cluster Meeting will be Wednesday, March 20th at 7pm in the Great Room. A representative from each ministry should be represented.  Volunteers and anyone wishing to attend are welcome.

BUSINESS MEETING: A Special Business Meeting for members is called for Thursday March 21st at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary to act upon a joint recommendation from the Elders, Finance and Trustee teams to move ahead with the completion of the Land Development/Parking Lot project this spring. All members are urged to attend, all are welcome.

MEN’S BREAKFAST: Mark your calendars for the next Men’s Breakfast on Saturday, March 23rd  at 7:30-9:00am.  Join us as it will be a great morning.

EASTER FLOWERS: Help us to decorate the church for Easter! If you would like to order an Easter flower(s) in remembrance of a loved one, please complete the form in your bulletin or Welcome Center and hand in with payment ($8 each) by April 1st.

Prayer: This month the elders voted to move ahead with the next steps in determining God’s plans for our land. We have sent out requests for bids on the Parking Lot Expansion project we have been talking about for two years. We are facing a deadline of this June to either start the project, or face additional costs in re-permitting if we decide to wait. Pray for clarity, God’s timing on this project and direction on this project.

FLU SEASON: As everyone is well aware, we are in the middle of a severe flu season. There are many who are affected.  We have attendees who are especially susceptible- people with compromised immune system, some elderly and our children. While we appreciate everyone’s desire to be in worship and participating in the life of the church, we would ask during this time that we would all use great wisdom with our own health to determine whether we should be around others. If you are ill, or have been ill recently please use good judgment regarding your exposure to others. Hand sanitizer stations are available around the church for your convenience as well. Sunday services are available through our church app and are posted early in the week. Videos of service are available on Channel 22 in Raymond.  Be in prayer for many who are struggling through this winter season, and thank everyone for watching out for the health of all

April/May/Lent Sermon Series- “Jesus’ Inside Friends”

So often when we talk about “the friends of Jesus” we are most likely to focus on the apostles, Peter, Paul, those who as Jesus says, “you are my friends if you do what I command you.” What about the people that Jesus seemed to welcome in and with whom he invited in the broken, bruised, unwanted or unwelcomed.  Do these describe our friends?

3/17- New Series “Jesus’ Political Friends” (The Tax Collector)” Luke 5:27-32

MEMBERSHIP CLASS: Are you new or just want to know more about RBC and membership, what we believe and how things work here or interested in becoming a member? We are still in the process of coordinating a membership class so if anyone is interested there is still some time to call, email the Office or Sign up at the Welcome Center

VBS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Ladies and Gentlemen start your engines! Come be a part of the stock car crew as we introduce children to the “Eternal Race” that will last a life time.  Mark your calendars with the following Drive! VBS Prep dates: 4/10, 5/8; 7-8 pm, upstairs room in the office building.  Contact Tara Swist with questions 603.300.0797 or at tara@raymondbaptistchurch.com.

This is truly a great opportunity for us and an easy way for you to show your support for our Food Pantry.  Please go to the store, find the reusable bag rack and buy a few bags! MEN’S BREAKFAST: Mark your calendars for the next Men’s Breakfast on Saturday, March 23rd  at 7:30-9:00am.  Join us as it will be a great morning.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, May 2nd: We would like to ask you to pray and seek God’s wisdom to help you remember a time in your life when you struggled with a question, a problem, or a situation. A time when God showed up, spoke to you, and things changed.  Then to write a short devotional about it.  A sort of a Raymond version of the Daily Bread. Raymond’s’ real people, with real stories and problems,  seeking guidance from a real God.   Your stories might even come from your own journals.

In life we all hurt and often don’t understand our journey.   As we spend time with each other, and share our stories we create connections.  These connections allow us the opportunity to say that there is an awesome, powerful, loving, wise God just waiting to welcome us all home.

We ask you to keep your devotional to under 200 words, contain the scripture that spoke to you, and follow this simple outline:

  1. State your situation/problem/question
  2. State how God spoke to you, and the scripture He used
  3. State how this encounter with a living God changed you, your outcome, your actions or your direction
We would like to share these devotion with our guests the morning of NDP breakfast on May 2nd. If we get enough, we would put them into a booklet for our guests to take with them.  Devotions will be printed using first names, or anonymous upon request.   Please submit these devotions by email to Marion by April 1st   Thank you so much for partnering with us in this ministry to love our community to Christ.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, May 2ndWe would like to ask you, to pray and seek God’s wisdom to help you remember a time in your life when you struggled with a question, a problem, or a situation.

RBC TEAM IS HEADING TO UGANDA! April 20th – May 4th. Please stand with us through prayer and giving. Pray that this will result in long-term commitment to engage with the impoverished both at home and around the world.

Winter Sermon Series- “The Forgotten God”

Pastor Francis Chan in his book, “The Forgotten God” presents the case that many churches, even if they would not say it’s true, have forgotten God in their worship and practice by neglecting the person and practice of the Holy Spirit. Is this true for each of us? Could this be said about our church? Do we live and minister in such comfort that we have eliminated the need of God’s Spirit? Would we even notice His absence?

RAYMOND BAPTIST CHURCH NOTES

Praise: This week, in cooperation with Raymond Coalition for Youth we were able to provide space for training for those looking to become Recovery Coaches for those looking for help in their addiction recoveries. There are now 40 new people trained to help those in crisis. Praise God he has given us facilities with which we can share, and a desire to share, and help our communities..

Last November the church membership voted to move ahead with the sale of the church parsonage. The property listed this month and within 72 hours we had 24 showings and 12 offers. The parsonage team reviewed the offers and accepted one. We should look at a closing date within the next two weeks. Praise God for the timing of all this. Pray for final details.

Sanctity of Life Our church is participating in the baby bottle benefit to help support the CareNet Pregnancy Center. Pick up a bottle after church from Wanda Molligi and fill it with your spare change or bills. Baby Bottles will be due back by February 17th.

Winter Sermon Series- “The Forgotten God” Pastor Francis Chan in his book, “The Forgotten God” presents the case that many churches, even if they would not say it’s true, have forgotten God in their worship and practice by neglecting the person and practice of the Holy Spirit. Is this true for each of us? Could this be said about our church? Do we live and minister in such comfort that we have eliminated the need of God’s Spirit? Would we even notice His absence?

2/3- “What’s In It For Me?” James 4:1-3

MEMBERSHIP CLASS: Are you new or just want to know more about RBC and membership, what we believe and how things work here or interested in becoming a member? We are in the process of coordinating a membership class so if anyone is interested, please call, email the Office or Sign up at the Welcome Center.

Saturday, February 16th, 9:00 am, RBC Great Room

Mitzi Horne, one of our friends and a workshop leader from Berea, is our guest speaker this month. Come hear her special message for us, Beloved, Be Loved!

THANK YOU: We received a letter from Rockingham County Department of Corrections dated January 27, 2019:

Dear Friends, On behalf of the inmates at the Rockingham County Department of Corrections we are very grateful for your acts of kindness. God says, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me” (Matthew 25:35-36).  Your response to our Christmas appeal for games and financial support has been overwhelming. With your help we are able to provide a message that each inmate is valuable in the eyes of our loving grace God and that your gift will bring them and our Lord a smile.  May God bless.  Serving on the victory side, Rev. Kent Threlfall, Chaplain.

1/20- “Afraid of Answering the Door”- Luke 11:13

Starting Sunday, January 13th ~ New Sermon Series- “The Forgotten God”

Pastor Francis Chan in his book, “The Forgotten God” presents the case that many churches, even if they would not say it’s true, have forgotten God in their worship and practice by neglecting the person and practice of the Holy Spirit. Is this true for each of us? Could this be said about our church? Do we live and minister in such comfort that we have eliminated the need of God’s Spirit? Would we even notice His absence?

1/13- “I’ve Got Jesus, I’m All Set”- John 14:15-27

CELEBRATING GOD’S FAITHFULNESS: The Leadership Team has set aside the month of December as a time to allow those who are interested in making an extra contribution over and above their weekly tithes and offerings. Each year the Elders ask us to focus on an end of the year gift that we could give to help others around us. Everyone has seen the devastation caused by the fires in California, the thousands displaced and homeless. This year for the month of December we would like to ask you to consider giving an extra gift that will go to Samaritan’s Purse. Samaritan’s Purse is a relief agency led by Franklin Graham and provides disaster assistance to those in need around the world. Samaritan’s Purse currently has 96 volunteers on the ground in the affected areas of California. Please note on your contribution End of Year Giving “Samaritan’s Purse.” Thank you.

CHRISTMAS CARDS: Please check the Lobby for your Christmas cards.  This will be the last week they will be out in the Lobby.

MINISTRY CLUSTER MEETING:  our next Cluster Meeting will be Wednesday, January 16th at 7pm in the Great Room. A representative from each ministry should be represented.  Volunteers and anyone wishing to attend are welcome.

NEW PARKING LOT: God has blessed enormously with the purchase of the land and God has been faithful through you, His People! But coming up with a plan was just the first step.  Now comes the task of planning and paying for the new parking lot needed, once started it must be completed. Giving is an act of worship so please prayerfully consider how and if you are able to help fund the new parking lot as we move forward.
